Our Team

Seguí & Associates’ corporate experience as a brokerage insurance firm is enhanced by the cumulative experience of its staff. Our entire team strengthens the company experience and provides, in each individual area of expertise, broad knowledge and familiarity with the ERISA laws –the rules and regulations that govern the health insurance industry–, which include how Obama’s Reform affects our local market, as well as with the OSHA Regulations, which are safety regulation patterns used to identify possible risks and to later ensure based on those risks. According to your particular needs, at Seguí & Associates we will set up the best team, whose members are all at the top of their particular fields. Hereinafter we present a brief description of our management staff.


Mr. Juan Carlos Seguí Menéndez, MBA, HIA, President, has 28 years of experience, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a major in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, which includes important undergraduate courses from Purdue University at West Lafayette, Indiana. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the lnteramerican University of Puerto Rico.

Seguí began his professional career very early, in 1987, as an Account Executive at Medical Card System, Corp. After that, he worked with Triple S Insurance and Humana Health Plan, as Sales and Marketing Director. Later, in 1997, he worked with Marsh Saldaña. During his tenure in this firm and as a result of hard work and dedication, he was promoted to Vice President and Commercial Segment Leader. It was in 2010 that he decided to start his own venture as an independent insurance broker, and founded Seguí & Associates Insurance Brokers, LLC.

Now, with more than 28 years of successful experience as well as great leadership, networking skills, and vast insurance knowledge, he nurtures Seguí & Associates in order to properly represent his clients in negotiations and insurance policy renewals, and he has a fantastic working team addressing all service needs.


Mr. Juan Ignacio Mongil, CPA, VP and segment leader of the P&C Department, has 25 years of experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico. Mongil was brought up surrounded by people with plenty of insurance knowledge, since his family has been in the insurance industry since the 1960s. He began working with his father at Seguros Mongil, Inc. in 1990.

Currently, as Vice President and leader of the Commercial Insurance Division, he focuses on developing customizable insurance programs and risk solutions according to every client’s needs. He also holds the following professional designations:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
  • Past president and current board member of the CPCU Association


Ismael Cotto, Vice President and Segment Leader of the Financial Planning Department, has 10 years of experience in Financial Planning and in the insurance industry. He worked in two of the most important life insurance companies in New York City, where he gained experience as a pension plan administrator. He develops tax exemption strategies for individual and corporate retirement. He possesses a broad knowledge of Key Man Insurance and Buy and Sell Agreements. Other duties include the training and development of new business associates for our Financial Planning Department, as sponsored by our firm.


Mrs. Najla Shwaiki Díaz, Senior Account Executive, has 15 years of experience in the Employee Benefits Area and she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Interamerican University. Her exposure to the health insurance industry includes experience with two of the most important healthcare plans in Puerto Rico, as a Sales and Marketing Executive. Her duties involve the servicing of local and multinational accounts, which include group health plan evaluations and benefit comparisons. She also worked with a brokerage firm, specializing in Employee Benefits with an extensive background in complex plan negotiations and contract renewals. As Senior Account Executive, she serves most of our firm’s larger accounts.


Mrs. Soraya Garratón Martin, Vice President, has 25 years of experience. Since she joined Seguí & Associates, she serves as Office General Manager. Mrs. Garratón has a BBA, with a major in Accounting from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. She brings to our team comprehensive experience in other business areas such as administration, customer service, accounting, auditing, strategic planning, and human resources. Mrs. Garratón’s main duties include office and staff administration, client implementation process, as well as managing the accounting department.
